Re: Fonterra Under Pressure
"The council's commissioner with responsibility for water, David Caygill, said it would continue to work to meet the clean streams target - at the same time as it allowed for increased irrigation and intensive dairy farming."
Idiot! Increased intensification and irrigation will only worsen rivers.

Re: Fonterra Under Pressure
I know what you mean, but Caygill is an ex-politician and well used to saying that black is white and white is no colour at all. He is more likely to be cunning than idiotic.upstream wrote:"The council's commissioner with responsibility for water, David Caygill, said it would continue to work to meet the clean streams target - at the same time as it allowed for increased irrigation and intensive dairy farming."
Idiot! Increased intensification and irrigation will only worsen rivers.
Hence the ridiculous pretence that intensive dairying systems based on yet more irrigation are compatible with clean streams.
