"Safe" Fracking in New Zealand eh?

We had a 4.4 earthquake in Alberta yesterday. No biggie by NZ standards but... it is the world's largest earthquake induced by industrial activity. Just a continued head's up to what fracking can do for your country - and it sounds like it's coming to you sooner than later.

If you thought 1080 was bad, this is monumentally worse.

Cheers! :)

Scary thought aye.
I don't wish this on anyone/region but we need a big Fracking related quake to do damage overseas - just enough to scare the insurance underwriters - The thought of a 40 Billion rebuild cost ( Like Chch) surely would stop the practice.
Or would it :(

If you are scared of what fracking can do which is thus far only fairly minor activity check out the earthquakes caused by artificial dams, they have been linked to earthquakes up to magnitude 8.
