It's on old but very good tip that is so often overlooked on the water. Very timely going into the Taupo winter season too.

Yup. Nothing better than a bomb in the ear on a frosty July morning at the Poutu Pool.... I had a mate one day who got one in the earlobe, just on daylight... it was freezing cold and he couldn't feel it and asked me to just yank it out. I obliged but took half his earlobe off as well. As it was so cold it didn't bleed much. Didn't tell him how bad it was and he only found out at the pub on the way home. Nothing a beersie couldn't fix haha...
