Jammed bobbin holder

Post by Taieri George » Fri Mar 25, 2016 5:15 pm

I managed to,

While threading a thick thread into a bobbin holder I broke it off while it was doubled over going up the pipe. Now it is jammed and I can't pull or push it free from either end. Options are,
1 buy a new Threader
2 try to drill it out (smaller than any bit I have)
3 heat it up to burn the thread out. Not too keen to do that
4 ram it out with a pin or needle (tried and failed that effort)
5 pour acid down the tube. (No thanks)
6 ask for help - please.

Thanks
George

I didn't think of blowing! Good thought.

Jumped in deep and gas torched it on looooow flame - perfect. Done in 20 seconds. I don't think it will rust after the heat treatment.

A quick tip, dont bother with a threader tool. Just poke the thread through the back of the tube then put your lips on the other end and suck. Pulls the thread through perfectly every time and no jams due to doubled up thread. ;)
